High Phytonutrient Food Plan

You are what you absorb

We have all heard the phrase “You are what you eat”, but actually that’s not quite right. It should be – You Are What You Absorb.

We can compare it to reading a book – if we absorb nothing from the book, then it has added nothing to our collective wisdom.

If we read about things that we are interested in, then we absorb the knowledge that affects us – just like food provides nutrition that we absorb, which affects our systems, both positively and negatively depending on what we eat and absorb.

Knowing which vitamins and minerals you need to absorb to be at your best, is key to a longer, better, healthier life.

Symbionts vs Pathobionts

Our Gut Microbiome is made up of Symbionts – the Good Guys. And Pathobionts – the Bad Guys, but it is important to have the right balance between the two – we actually need both in the right quantities. Optimally we should have about 85% Good Guys and about 15% Bad Guys. If we have the wrong ratio then we experience Gut Dysbiosis – or imbalance.

Having the right balance is critical for optimal health, as our Microbiome affects so many aspects of our lives. For example our mood – are you aware that 90% of the Serotonin, a.k.a. The Happy Hormone is manufactured in your gut?

Your Gut and Hormones

Do you have trouble sleeping?

That could be due to a shortage of Melatonin, the Darkness Hormone which encourages good sleep – again produced in the gut.

For those people suffering from stress and burn-Dopamine, the Motivation Hormone, Oxytocin, which looks after Love, trust and Self-esteem and Noradrenaline which gives you your “Get up and Go” are ALL produced in the Gut – when it is in the right balance.

Add to that food craving, weight management, digestion and metabolism, brain health, fertility and many other things – you can see how important having a balanced Gut Microbiome is.

Unfortunately, a trait of our European-centric diet is that we have, by and large, a diet that is low in Fermented Foods – which are an excellent source of nutrition to help re-balance your Gut Microbiome.

On our programs, we give you the list of foods that are gut friendly, so that you can introduce these into your eating habits and help repopulate your gut with more good guys and less bad guys.

For each item on the list, we provide you with the relevant nutritional information, including which vitamins are contained in the food item, and why the medical specialists at The Hughes Centre for Research & Innovation chose it to be on the list.

Gut Friendly Food

To get the best from your experience during one of our programs, we provide you with the complete list of “gut friendly foods”, which are scientifically proven to boost the good bacteria in your body, helping you fight against the bad guys you may have built up over time.

Recipes

We feel it is really important to help you make the most of this list, by also providing you with a recipe database, containing only gut friendly foods. We think of it this way – we could give you a box of lego bricks and ask you to build things, or we can give you a box of lego bricks, and the instructions for what to build – making your day just that little bit easier.

Of course, once you get more experience of cooking with these amazing ingredients, you can always take part of any of our recipes and modify them, using the gut friendly foods, just like you can with lego.

User Submitted content

Many of our recipes have been provided by people on one of our journey’s and we always encourage people to submit theirs to us, so we can add them for everyone to benefit from.

We believe that a community of like-minded people, all helping each other, is a powerful tool to help you build a better you.

Food Facts explained

When you are on one of our programs, we want you to have the best and most comprehensive information possible to help you make the right choices with regard to your nutrition.

That’s why every nutritional supplement in our program is fully explained, with eBooks, videos and a dedicated webpage for each one. From detailing all of the ingredients, how they can help you, as well as the best times to take them, along with how to best take them.

It doesn’t just cover the supplements either, we have books and videos on a range of eating styles, such as Paleo, Keto and healthy foods like Kombucha and the best smoothie recipes for a great start to the day.

Every item on the approved food list has a high-res image, as well as nutritional information and the reason why they have been selected.

We want you to fall in love with eating healthy foods that are optimized for your genetic body and we feel that our extensive library on nutrition will be your guide.

The Miracle Molecule

Nitric oxide, or NO, is a very simple but important molecule. It is not the same as nitrous oxide, or “laughing gas.” The nitric oxide story is no laughing matter; it will determine how long you live.

If you had first discovered how nitric oxide works, as three Americans (Robert Furchgott, Louis Ignarro, and Ferid Murad) did, in 1998 you would have won the Nobel Prize for Medicine.

Nitric oxide is that important.

Nitric oxide is a molecule that’s produced naturally by your body, and it’s important for many aspects of your health. Its most important function is vasodilation, it relaxes the inner muscles of the blood vessels, causing them to widen and increase circulation. Nitric oxide production is essential for overall health because it allows blood, nutrients and oxygen to travel to every part of your body effectively and efficiently.

In fact, a limited capacity to produce nitric oxide is associated with heart disease, diabetes and erectile dysfunction.

We utilise this amazing discovery on our programs and ensure that your circulatory system is given a huge boost in terms of performance. This allows the blood to flow to all parts of your body much more efficiently. The end result will astound you, as you really can feel the difference.

Having your blood flowing on your new super-highway will also help you absorb nutrition much better, reduce things like pins & needles and cold extremities. If you are a man going through this program, you may well feel a lot more, wink wink, as part of the Nobel Prize winning research done back in 1998 also led to the development of a certain small blue pill.

Better circulation results in optimized detoxification and the correct distribution of vital nutrients to all parts of your body
